Dear Parents -
Congratulations on accepting a position for your child to attend the Nature Explorers program in the 2027 school year.
The documents and information below are provided to you via this website for quick and easy access; however, this and other information regarding our Service; the Nature Explorers program; policies; and forms can be found on the OWNA App.
Please take the time to read and understand all the information provided to you in order to minimise confusion. Feel free to bookmark this page, if needed.

Please note that our Service follows the NSW school term.
A. Nature Explorers Information:
I. NATURE EXPLORERS ORIENTATION MOVIE:
The Orientation Movie is for Parents and it provides an overview of our program, curriculum, and an idea of what to expect from the Preschool from a parent perspective.

II. PARENTS HANDBOOK:
The Parents Handbook provides an overall introduction into the Nature Explorers program, and contains information related to:

Clothing Procedures (including what to wear);

Hand Tool Safety Procedure;

Use of Fire Procedure; amongst others

B. Parent Information Evening:
NATURE EXPLORERS:
We welcome parents to a parent information evening to allow parents to get familiar with our program. The evening will cover key information about Nature Explorers such as our curriculum; what to expect on your child's first day, and during the term; policies and procedures; amongst other topics.
The details are as follows:

Wednesday 9 December 2026
Both sessions run from 6-7pm.
After the information evening, if needed, families would then have the option to book an individual meeting (20 min) with our Director and/or Educational Leader to discuss their child in more detail before the 2027 school year begins.
Important Note:
Parents must book in for the Parent Information Evening.
C. OWNA Childcare Management App:
I. LOGIN:
The OWNA App allows for educators and families to communicate easily and effectively through real time access to your child's data including images and videos, digital attendances (including time in/out & digital signatures), as well as notifications about posts, and important notices like incident reports, forms etc.
You will be sent your OWNA login username, PIN, and passcode under separate cover directly from OWNA. Please check in your junk box if you have not received this, otherwise please let us know so we can resend it.
The Parent's App Cheat Sheet is a great starting place for new families to familiarise themselves with the app and where to find different information on the App.
Important Note:
If you already use OWNA at another service, please see this link regarding adding multiple accounts to your profile.

Important Note:
The documents above forms part of your child's enrolment; therefore, it is important that these documents are completed straight away once you have access to OWNA.

Information contained on this page forms part of the Welcome Pack in addition to the documents outlined below. These documents can be accessed on the OWNA App.

D. NSW Government Funding Program:
I. GOVERNMENT FUNDING PROGRAM:
We are awaiting information regarding new funding guidelines from the NSW Dept of Education planned for the 2027 school year.
Once this information is provided to our Service, parents will be notified.
E. Orientation:
I. EDUCATOR MEET & GREET – Term 4, 2026:
Parents are encouraged to attend the meet and greet session in Term 4, 2026 as this is a valuable opportunity for children to meet the other explorers in the 2027 cohort, meet educators, and help children become familiar with the environment alongside their families.
This session also allow parents to understand our routines, learning spaces, and philosophy before the new year begins.

II. ORIENTATION WEEK - TERM 1, 2027:
In Term 1, 2027, our orientation sessions are designed specifically for children.
This time is important for educators to connect with each child individually and observe how they engage and interact with peers without the presence of parents.
This helps us better understand each child’s needs, confidence levels, and social dynamics as they begin their Nature Explorers journey.

3rd DAY SELECTION:
Please note any third day selection (Masterclass or Nature Explorers Wednesday) will not be confirmed until Term 4 2026 pending finalisation of NSW Government Funding Program.
Important Note:
Child Care Subsidy (CCS) only applies to services/centres that receive Federal Funding (e.g. long day care centres or family daycare).
Our community Preschool is state funded and therefore we do not accept CCS.
We do not submit attendances to Centrelink.
G: School Term Dates, School Development Days
I. TERM DATES & SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAYS – 2027
Please find the 2027 NSW Department of Education term, school development, and school holiday dates below for your information.
School development days are designed to enhance our educators’ knowledge and strengthen our ability to support children’s holistic development and provide better support to families.
Children do not attend school on school development days.
